Swimming with the Buckeyes Rocks!

I know you're all probably like SpeedLeopard where the heck have you been?

The last few days I've been on the road in Ohio doing a training for one of our customers and got to do the coolest thing.

I've run, swam and biked all over the world on 3 continents throughout the past few years but yesterday's swimming experience was pretty cool.

My training was being held in Columbus so I was staying right across the street from the beautiful Ohio State campus. As I was wandering around waiting for some documents to be printed at Kinkos I noticed an Ice Rink.

Ding! The light bulb went off in my head. This is a ginormous school so anyplace this big must have an aquatic facility.

A few clicks and a few calls pleading my case to the Student working the athletic center membership desk and I had a day pass to use the aquatic center for only $10 - Super Sweet!

I headed over with my cap, goggles and SportBeans and was floored by how beautiful the facility was. The pool was an 8 lane 50m competition pool with digital timing system, cool clean water and about 5-10 ft deep. Next to the pool was the Springboard and Platform diving wells and as I did my laps I got to watch some of OSUs divers practicing.

I did 2000m which took just over an hour and I had a blast. I haven't swam that far since IM and it felt great to push myself on both distance and speed.

What really made the experience great though was the facility. There's something awesome about swimming in a long course pool where it feels like you can swim forever before turning around. Where light pours in from windows and vaulted ceilings.

Thank you Buckeyes for your hospitality!

I have lots of interesting things to post on but for now I'm in Chicago and have to catch my flight.

SpeedLeopard out :)
